Kimberley Challenge – 15 Days Foot & Water Expedition

Kimberley Challenge – 15 Days Foot & Water Expedition

ESCAPE THE MUNDANE

“This was an experience of a lifetime.” – Fred Steer, Brookfield Rail

SAY YES TO THE NEXT ADVENTURE

Challenge yourself to 15 days rugged adventure in the harsh Kimberley region of Western Australia where we’ve been training the legendary Gurkhas since 1995. We are only offering this experience once a year for up to 30 lucky aspiring explorers.

Embark on the ultimate 15-day Kimberley Challenge with Outback Initiatives, where adventure meets the extraordinary. Test your limits in a pristine wilderness, conquering challenges with a small, intimate team. Discover the raw beauty of the outback while creating unbelievable memories.

First we’ll meet you in the remote town of Kununurra where you’ll be transferred to our base camp.

There you’ll meet the rest of your team and undergo 3 days of training and expedition preparation.

Our highly experienced team will provide instruction on safety, navigation – map to ground reading & compass work, bush tucker, environmental awareness, canoe handling and water safety, communications including sat phone training, and medical emergency training. We’ll cover routes, challenges,  expedition planning and team management to assist with a successful and enjoyable experience.

On day 4 we’ll drop the teams at various routes where you’ll trek over some harsh and beautiful country, stopping nightly at waterholes to fish for your dinner. You’ll be trekking this magnificent country for 5 days.

On day 10 we set off on 4 days of paddling the mighty Ord River. The crocodiles  are fresh water, they won’t bother you. You’ll be fishing for dinner and setting up camp river side.

On arrival back into Kununurra you have a whole day to unwind, pack your gear and enjoy some cultural interaction, taste local distillery wares and perhaps buy some local art.

Day 15 we transfer you back to the airport where you make your way back home.

Note: a high level of fitness is required to undertake this journey. You’ll be travelling at least 80km through rugged terrain and 50km paddling down the Ord River. The program can be adjusted as we go to ensure your physical and emotional safety.

One team can be made up of people who are not as experienced with trekking, but who want the thrill of the challenge.

PLACES ARE STRICTLY LIMITED TO 30 PARTICIPANTS IN 3 TEAMS OF 10
